Flying birds and blooming flowers… is there anything more delightful and charming? This captivating bird medallion is another find from our recent expedition to Paris. The vintage French mold for this piece dates to 1890. The oval composition is framed by a garland surrounding the bird, which faces two blooming roses. As is typical with these old French pieces, the detail is superb-- the bird’s individual feathers, his eye, and the flower petals are all clearly delineated. We hand-cast him in our studio in sterling silver and applied a light antiquing to bring out the detail. Dangling are fine quality spiral-twist white topaz gemstones. Gold-filled daisy beads top and bottom lend a subtle two-tone theme. Earring measures appx. 1 5/8 inches tall.
