This impressive medallion began life as a Victorian sporting button. We found it in London. These were popularly used on hunting clothes in the late 1800s. We snatched this one up as soon as we saw it because it is rare to find such strong design and high quality carving. It depicts the head of a stag with its 10-point antlers stretching from side to side. Above and below are sprigs of woodland flora. We hand-cast this in our studio in solid sterling silver and applied a moderate antiquing to bring out the detail. Below it hangs a faceted sarsaparilla color Madeira citrine. Citrines of this color and quality are RARE. Above is a sweep of black, platinum and bronze pearls (the latter are side drilled) along with spiral twist Madeira citrines and yellow sapphires from the Umba Valley in Africa. Silver lobster clasp. Necklace measures 16 ¼ to 17 ¾ inches long with silver extender.
